Gallop in the Storm

Agnes held Kebranto’s reins with trembling hands as storm clouds thickened over Borovets. A flash of lightning split the sky, followed by a deep rumble of thunder. Rain poured down in torrents, and the wind howled through the trees. They had to return to the ranch—fast.

“There’s no other way, Agnes! Are you ready?” Martin shouted over the storm.

There was no time for fear. She tightened her grip on the reins, pressed her heels into Kebranto’s sides, and suddenly, they were galloping. The wind lashed against her face, her heart pounded, and for the first time, she truly felt the power of horseback riding.

As they descended the slope, a gust of wind snatched her cowboy hat, sending it spiraling into the darkness. But there was no turning back. The storm pushed her forward, but her fear was gone—only the thrill of the ride remained.

By the time they reached the ranch, soaked to the bone and breathless, Agnes dismounted, laughing with exhilaration. Martin clapped her on the shoulder, proud of her courage.

After the storm had passed, as the sun broke through the clouds, they found her hat lying in the wet grass. Smiling, Agnes placed it back on her head.

She had taken her first gallop. And there was no turning back.
